[Hanoi] Fullstack QA Engineer Lead (Manual, Auto, AI Adoption)
Department: MFCon
Language: English (Professional); Japanese (nice to have)
Grade: 4
I. Position Overview
As a Hybrid QA Engineer Lead, you serve as the principal Quality Anchor for MFCon’s flagship B2B SaaS products (e.g., Michibiku & Conkan), directly collaborating with Japan-based Product Managers, Engineering Managers, and executive stakeholders.
Operating at a Leadership level, you combine deep hands-on testing execution (Manual, E2E/API Automation, Performance, and Security awareness) with strategic Quality Enablement. You lead the transition of our testing organization into the AI Era by establishing automation standards, reviewing team PRs, managing outsourcing vendor quality, driving Shift-Left discovery, and advocating AI adoption across the SDLC.
This role expects a strong security mindset, with a clear understanding of data privacy, credential protection, device security, and the responsible use of corporate systems, tools, and accounts.
II. Key Responsibilities
Stakeholder Alignment & Release Risk Governance
- Act as the primary technical bridge with Japan PM/Dev teams to clarify complex domain requirements, business boundaries, and Non-Functional Requirements (NFRs).
- Own squad-level release decisions based on holistic risk assessments, quality metrics, and business impact rather than simple pass/fail counts.
- Establish clear Entry/Exit criteria, QA Definition of Done (DoD), and release risk governance across distributed teams in Hanoi, HCM, and Japan.
Test Architecture, Strategy & Hybrid Automation
- Architect, maintain, and expand scalable test automation frameworks for web applications and APIs (standardized on Playwright / TypeScript or Python).
- Enforce the Test Pyramid: guide teams on when to build API vs. UI tests to maximize regression feedback speed and lower runtime costs.
- Conduct hands-on automation code reviews, enforce coding standards, eliminate test flakiness, and integrate quality gates into CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI).
Quality Enablement & Outsource Governance
- Enable outsourced QA teams (e.g., in HCM) and internal squad members by providing test harnesses, reusable playbooks, and targeted technical mentoring.
- Drive Shift-Left testing practices during early discovery, validating wireframes, PRDs, and logic models to prevent defects before implementation.
- Establish performance, load, and basic security testing strategies for B2B financial/back-office workflows.
AI Adoption & AI-Augmented Testing
- Lead the team in adopting Generative AI tools (e.g., Cursor, GitHub Copilot, LLM assistants) to accelerate test design, script generation, and triage.
- Conduct scenario-based exploratory testing and output validation for AI-assisted product features (chatbots, agents, automated suggestions).
- Define internal guidelines for safe, compliant AI tool usage adhering to company data privacy standards.
III. Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
- 8+ years of professional software QA / SDET experience, with 3+ years in a technical leadership, QA Lead, or Principal IC role.
- English Communication Fluency.
- Deep expertise in Test Automation: hands-on mastery of JavaScript / TypeScript (or Python) using Playwright, Cypress, or Selenium.
- Strong knowledge of API Testing (REST/GraphQL), SQL data validation, and complex database architectures.
- Hands-on experience integrating test suites into CI/CD pipelines and Dockerized test environments.
- Proven AI-Era Productivity: Active, daily practitioner of GenAI tooling to accelerate QA delivery and team output.
- Strategic Leadership Mindset: Demonstrated ability to define quality strategies, mentor engineers, and manage release risks independently.
